Fall 2025:
MATH 515 - Numerical Analysis I
Description: This course focuses on numerical linear algebra and matrix computations. The emphasis of the course is on the design of these algorithms and their analysis, with some coverage of related applications to motivate and support the material. Students taking this class should have a good background in linear algebra and be familiar with Python programming.
Spring 2025:
MATH 351 - Partial Differential Equations
Description: This course is an introduction to Partial Differential Equations (PDEs). Topics discussed include heat, wave and Laplace equations, separation of variables, Fourier series, method of characteristics, and finite differences.
Pre-requisites: To take this class you need Multivariable Calculus, Linear Algebra, and Ordinary Differential Equations in you background. I am assuming that you are familiar with the topics in these classes.
Learning Objectives:
Learn how to derive linear PDEs by modeling certain physical phenomena.
Learn several methods for solving linear PDEs and be able to decide which method should be applied for a given equation.
Learn some qualitative properties of the solutions.
